Was 2016 really that bad?

There’s been a lot of talk about how 2016 seemed like a “cursed” year – celebrity deaths left, right and centre, surprising election results, shock-horror all round. But how good are our brains at understanding statistical clusters? We love finding patterns, but are we any good at working out probability?

Eran Segev, president of Australian Skeptics Inc recently spoke on this topic with podcaster Josh Zepps.

Zepps is an Australian who hosts the podcast Point of Inquiry for the Center for Inquiry. He recently had a stint on ABC Local Radio where he covered a range of topics of interest.
