North to Alaska with James Randi

by Richard Saunders

Richard Saunders, past president of Australian Skeptics, was recently in the USA as guest of the Denver Skeptics and The James Randi Educational Foundation on 'The Amazing Adventure 2' cruise to Alaska. Richard was delighted to be asked to give his presentation, "Fakes, Frauds & Fools", for both organisations, a talk he has also given in Melbourne and will give in Sydney next year.

The cruise was a chance to catch up with James Randi and other celebrities of the skeptical world including good friend of Australian Skeptics Dr. Phil Plait (The Bad Astronomer), Rebecca Watson (Skepchick) and Hal Bidlack and Geoff Wagg from the JREF.

Richard could not resist making some origami along the way and has even invented a paper 'Pigasus', (flying pig) mascot of the JREF. You can download the instructions here. http://www.mysteryinvestigators.com/files/paper_pigasus.pdf

A report on the cruise from James Randi can be seen on this page http://www.randi.org/jr/2007-09/091407thebook.html#i6 and photos of the adventure are available here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/amazingadventure2/
