The annual convention of the Australian Skeptics will be held in Melbourne this year. While planning for the conference is still in the early stages, the venue, dates and some of the speakers are already confirmed.
Here are the details so far:
Location: The SPOT Theatre, University of Melbourne, 198 Berkeley Street Carlton
Dates: Friday the 30th of November to Sunday the 2nd of December.
Confirmed Speakers: Rebecca Watson, Dr Ken Harvey, Lynne Kelly, Dr Rachael Dunlop, Richard Saunders and James “The Amazing” Randi.
Tickets are expected to go on sale around the 2nd of June. Keep an eye on this page for the link.
Further Australian and international speakers are expected to be announced in the coming months. The SPOT Theatre is a great new venue. Although it is capable of holding 400 people, we expect to sell out quickly. The ticket price has not been set as yet.
For interstate or international visitors wanting to book accommodation well ahead, these dates are set. Please go ahead and book accommodation near central Melbourne that weekend.
You can expect all the usual great things from an Australian Skeptics conference: panel discussions, the annual dinner, the announcement of The Bent Spoon award, the chance to chat with like minded skeptics and a great line up of speakers.
All in all we expect it to be a great conference, not to be missed.
