Investigating pseudo-science and the paranormal from a responsible scientific viewpoint

Cults conference November 2

A conference on “Cults in Australia” will be held at Parliament House in Canberra on November 2, 2011.

Featured speakers at the conference will include Senator Nick Xenophon and Prof Patrick McGorry, Australian of the Year 2010 and founding board member of the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Overseas experts and cult survivors will also be among those giving their perspectives on the issues.

Cult Information & Family Support Inc (CIFS) estimates there are at least 3000 cult groups, small and large, operating within Australia. The behaviour and actions of some of these groups results in a legacy of mental, physical and financial damage to individuals and families from which many may never fully recover.

Conference updates and information are available from www.cifs.org.au. Enquiries should be directed to CFIS at ua.gro.sficnull@ofni or 0423 332 766.
