By now most of the world has heard of Rom Houben, the unfortunate man who has been in a coma for the last 23 years. Much to the amazement of doctors, Mr. Houben now seems to be able to communicate via the assistance of a computer and, more importantly, a human helper.

Many are horrified to think that Mr. Houben has been aware of his soundings for all those years even though being to all appearances in a vegetative state.
However…
James Randi has seen something very much like this before and has cast great doubt on the claims being made about Mr. Houben’s ability to communicate.
