Aust Skeptics Inc on Christchurch tragedy

Australian Skeptics Inc is deeply saddened by the horrific terrorist attack in Christchurch on Friday which targeted the Muslim community. Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected, those who are grieving the terrible loss of family, friends, colleagues, neighbours through an act of violent hatred.

We stand with you at this awful time and offer our support.

As an organisation we are committed to diversity and inclusivity and to challenging those who would spread fear and hatred.

  1. For every attack on a mosque there are a hundred on churches worldwide but they seem to be irrelevant. After the Christchurch attack both Obama and Hillary clinton expressed solidarity with muslims but after the recent Sri Lanka attacks they couldn’t bare to mention the word “Christian” and instead referred to “Easter worshippers”. Was Christchurch a massacre of “mosque worshippers”.?

Will the Australian sceptics publish an expression of sympathy for the Christians killed in Sri Lanka? I doubt it because in the socialist works, Christians are bad and deserve to be attacked.

    1. The Christchurch massacre was an act perpetrated by an Australian citizen on our closest neighbours – humans naturally are driven to respond to events of great proximity. We cannot, nor do we intend to respond to every act of terrorism, however our words at the time are as applicable to Sri Lanka as to Christchurch or any other group that is targeted in an act of hatred.
