Susan Gerbic, founder of Guerrilla Skepticism on Wikipedia (GSoW), will be a featured presenter at Skepticon 2019 in Melbourne this December.
GSoW sets out to improve skeptical content on Wikipedia. It does this by developing and editing pages of skeptical spokespeople, providing noteworthy citations, and removing unsourced claims from paranormal and pseudoscientific pages.
Susan has built up an international cohort of GSoW editors, two of whom sit on the committee of Vic Skeptics, which is organising this year’s convention.
She has also been principal organiser of some highly-publicised projects to expose the tricks of ‘psychics’ who purport to contact the dead.
She has always been a popular speaker during her visits to Australia, and she is a dynamic presenter with a plethora of anecdotes on psychic busting, and tips for ensuring Wikipedia entries are written to reflect scientific truth.
Susan joins the Skeptics Guide to the Universe as key presenters at this year’s event, the 35th Australian Skeptics Annual Convention.
Skepticon will be held at the University of Melbourne from December 6-8. Full details are available from the convention website and tickets will go on sale from June 1.
